The brief
CAE Blue Phantom is a simulation platform designed to modernise medical training and education. Using advanced visualisation and machine learning, it gives trainees realistic practice scenarios and gives instructors objective, comparable performance data.
The challenge
Training outcomes were assessed subjectively by whichever instructor was in the room. There was no consistent way to measure technique, compare cohorts or demonstrate competency progression over time.
What we did
- Instrumented the simulation hardware to capture motion and timing telemetry at high resolution.
- Developed scoring models that translate raw telemetry into the technique metrics instructors already trusted.
- Built an instructor dashboard for cohort comparison, session replay and competency reporting.
- Shipped a companion tablet application for bedside assessment and offline session capture.
