Frequently asked questions
Straight answers on cost, timelines, ownership, security and support. If what you need is not covered here, call us and ask an engineer directly.
Evaluate expertise, delivery track record and portfolio depth in your sector. Ask to speak to the engineers who would actually work on your project, request references from engagements of a similar size, and look closely at how the company handles discovery, change requests and post-launch support. A strong partner will tell you when a project should be smaller than you proposed.

A custom software development company designs and builds software specifically for one organisation, rather than selling the same licensed product to everyone. That means the data model, workflows, integrations and interface are shaped around how your business already operates — and the resulting system, source code and intellectual property belong to you.
Off-the-shelf software is an excellent choice for commodity functions such as email or accounting. Custom software earns its cost where your process is a genuine competitive differentiator, where no vendor covers your workflow properly, where licence costs scale painfully with headcount, or where you are paying staff to bridge gaps between disconnected tools by hand.
Cost is driven by scope, integration complexity, compliance requirements and how much design validation is needed. A focused internal tool or proof of concept typically starts in the low tens of thousands of dollars; a multi-role platform with third-party integrations and regulated data handling sits considerably higher. We quote a short paid discovery phase first, which produces a specification and a firm estimate before you commit to the build.
Discovery runs two to four weeks. A focused first release is usually eight to sixteen weeks after that, depending on scope. Larger platforms are delivered in phases so that useful functionality reaches production early rather than everything arriving at the end. You see working software at the end of every two-week sprint.
You do. On final payment for each phase, all source code, infrastructure definitions, design files and documentation transfer to your organisation. We do not use proprietary frameworks that would tie you to us, and we will happily hand over to your in-house team or another vendor if that is the right decision for you.
Frequently. We work as an embedded extension of in-house teams, joining your stand-ups, your repository and your ticket workflow. Engagements range from one specialist filling a capability gap to a full parallel delivery squad working on a separate product line.
Every delivery includes a warranty period in which defects against the agreed specification are fixed at no charge. After that, most clients move onto a managed support plan covering monitoring, security patching, backup verification and a monthly allocation of development hours for ongoing improvements.
We sign an NDA before discovery. Work happens under least-privilege access on your infrastructure or ours, with code review, dependency scanning and secrets management as standard practice. For regulated environments we align delivery with the relevant framework — HIPAA, PCI DSS, SOC 2 or ISO 27001 — and prepare the evidence your auditors will request.
Three: fixed price for well-defined scope, time and materials for evolving requirements, and a dedicated team model where you retain a named squad on a monthly basis. Many clients begin with a fixed-price discovery, then move into a dedicated team as the roadmap grows.
